Reflections: Several
I think I tried to do too much in a "short" period of time. Since I basically only see students once a week, this project was very drawn out over a 10 week term. It would have been fabulous to see students every day, for 2 weeks. A compressed period of time would have made the project flow much better.
While I originally wanted to work with 6th graders, two of the four classes were very apathetic. The 5th graders were much more enthusiastic and their final books, prints and videos were fabulous.
The students had fun, but the entire project must have seemed disjointed to them over such a LONG period of time. There were activity sheets, the interactive PowerPoint presentation, Individual and Group Activities, Drawing, Collaboration, Bookmaking, Carving Printing Blocks (many students found this frustrating) and Printmaking (which they all seemed to enjoy).
Students were not good with the Flip Cameras or interviewing each other. They were very silly, and editing their documentation was laborious.
I learned alot, thanks, mostly to John Landis (Johnny on the Spot) and Emily was very helpful.
I guess I am frustrated by the fact that all this work goes unnoticed - especially for the students!
